Canadian Welding Bureau
Canada, like many countries around the world, has specifi c rules and regulati ons governing the constructi on of buildings and their related structural components. In Canada, companies doing such work are governed by the Nati onal or Provincial Building Code(s) and CSA Standard S16 Design of Steel Structures. These codes and standards are mandatory and apply to all Canadian welding, fabricati ng or erecti on companies, as well as US or Internati onal companies, working with or providing applicable structural welded products for use within Canada. In additi on to the above, there are also several additi onal product and safety codes that include requirements for CWB Certification.
For over 60 years, the CWB, as the administrators of the relevant CSA standards in support of the above, has been providing valuable assistance and guidance for companies seeking certi fi cati on and welder qualifi cati on.

Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association
Established in February 1994, the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association (NSCSA) is a not-for-profit association funded by and responsible to the construction industry. The NSCSA’s mandate is to effect a positive culture shift within the provincial construction industry. This culture shift is brought about through the use of strategic interventions intended to create an environment which makes this change possible. The NSCSA delivers safety education and other safety oriented services in every region of Nova Scotia. These services acknowledge the growing awareness of the direct relationship between effective safety programs and bottom line profits. The effectiveness of safety programs is measured by decreases in injuries to our fellow workers, decreases in financial loss in equipment and property damage, decreases in compensation and liability cost, and improved competitiveness and profits for the industry. The Association’s Board of Directors are responsible for policy and budget approval and include representatives from private industry, unions and government. Day-to-day operations of the Association are managed by the General Manager and the NSCSA staff. New and ongoing initiatives are guided by sound management principles along with input from our membership and stakeholders.

The WCB sets the standard for workplace injury insurance.
